The New Jersey Interdistrict Public School Choice application deadline for the 2022-2023 academic year is December 1, 2021. This program allows K-12th grade students to enroll in schools outside the district in which they live, giving parents the opportunity to find schools that better suit the needs of their child.
Parents can apply through the Find a Choice District page on the NJ Department of Education website. The application must be submitted directly to the district, and each one has its own application. The page also includes information about each available program and shows if there are any openings. Currently, there are 122 NJ districts participating.
Families use the School Choice Program to find an environment that best suits their students. Any student may apply. Some districts offer specialized programs in arts, math and technology. To be accepted, students must meet all eligibility requirements for the program to which they are applying.
